Kelly Smiley
Owner, Aerial Fabric, Yoga, & Hula Hoop

Kelly Smiley has been surrounded by performance art her entire life.  Growing up in Las Vegas, Nevada exposed her to multiple forms of performance art at a young age.    Inspired by a variety of world-class shows, which filtered through her hometown, the lure of the circus was never far.   After graduating from the University of Nevada Reno in 2000 with a degree in education, Kelly headed to Lake Tahoe to fulfill her dream of snowboarding. Kelly taught snowboarding for the better of 10 years until an injury left her feeling a bit lost.  Once again the circus crossed her path and Kelly took up hula hooping, aerial arts and yoga to help gain her strength and flexibility back.  Kelly quickly realized the healing benefits that flow arts have on the mind and body and wanted to create a fun healing space for athletes, performers, and flow artists to come and learn.  In May 2013 Kelly opened the Tahoe Flow Arts Studio in North Lake Tahoe where she teaches aerial fabrics, hula hooping and yoga.  Kelly received her 200 hours Wanderlust yoga teachers certificate and 200 hours advanced training in Yoga is Medicine with the AvAhana School of Yoga and incorporates yoga and it’s importance in all her classes. Kelly has been training in aerial fabric for over 8 years and has trained under Paper Doll Militia and the Aerial Lab.  Whether it be aerial arts, dance, gymnastics, theater, or as a high school short flags specialist, the natural progression to become a flow arts instructor was seamless.  Acknowledging the similarities in movement and design, Kelly was able to continue expanding upon fundamental skills that she has been mastering for most of her life.  With the mantra ‘Play, Dance, Yoga’ Kelly strives to create a comfortable space for artistic expression.

Erica Montgomery

Aerial Fabric

Over the years Erica has been drawn to many different athletic pursuits and movement arts. By early high school she was a varsity swimmer, diver, cheerleader and water polo player, and was named female athlete of the year in her senior year. In college she joined the USC snowboard team, took dance and yoga classes on the side, and developed a secret but sincere obsession with circus arts. Fearing that she was too old for circus school, she moved to Tahoe after graduation and spent the next 7 years traveling the country competing in snowboarding halfpipe. Oddly, a feeling lingered that something was missing. That changed the day she heard that the Tahoe Flow Arts studio had opened! Erica showed up the first week of classes and absolutely fell in love with aerials and the wonderful community there. She knew instantly that she had finally found what she had been looking for in a physical art...the perfect combination of strength, flexibility, artistry, thrill and grace. Erica began performing aerial fabrics in 2014, exactly one year to the day after her first class. When preforming in the air, she finally feels like she is exactly where she needs to be.

Alicia Streetman

Aerial Fabric, Aerial Straps, Yoga

Alicia began her performance and coaching journey with competitive gymnastics. She has since grown as a performer and coach by training and instructing many disciplines including aerial performance, yoga, acrobatics, and cheer/stunt. She feels lucky to be able to incorporate such a diverse background into each discipline she trains in and shares with others. She has performance and instruction experience on many aerial apparatuses including aerial spanset, fabric, corde lisse (rope) and lyra. Her ideal yoga class is well-rounded and appropriate for many levels with both pranayama and asana components  focusing on alignment and complemented with spiritual connections.  Alicia also works as a forest ecologist and can often be found practicing her passions in the beautiful outdoor spaces of California.

Abi Collomb-Gregor

Aerial Hoop

Anytime Abi is an all around athlete and adventurer. She grew up swimming and surfing in the ocean. She then moved to the mountains to accelerate her desire for extreme speed with snowboarding. Snowboarding and living the Tahoe lifestyle for 15 years has given her a strong sense of courage and strength. While traveling on the beach in Thailand she found and fell in love with the aerial hoop. Then coming home to help Kelly Smiley open Tahoe Flow Arts Studio she has blossomed her passion for teaching the Lyra. Implementing cross training in yoga, aerial fabrics, trapeze, dance, swimming and climbing into her daily routine helps keep her strong and agile. Abi feels as if the world of performance art has just begun to cultivate within her. She truly understands that personal awareness of the body involves dedication, commitment, and motivation each and every day, and strives to learn more and more about this beautiful world of expression!

Meredith Calderas

Aerial Fabric, Aerial Hoop, Yoga, Dance, Personal Training

Meredith (Merekat) Calderas' mission is to spread inspiration and laughter through teaching and performing aerial arts, dance and yoga. Growing up, dance was her form of self-expression, communication and discipline. Merekat continued dancing through college until an injury set her back. After dislocating her knee cap, she found yoga for rehabilitation. The strength, flexibility, balance and breath that yoga has given her on the mat and off that mat, she has incorporated into teaching dance and aerial arts. After graduating from Yoga Teacher Training with Shaelah Morris in 2014 and training in aerial fabrics with Kelly Smiley, she is now living her dream of being a teacher and is blending together her love for yoga, aerial arts, dance, and photography as she continues to share and grow with her community.

Leah Pivirotto

Dance, Aerial Hoop, Aerial Fabric

Leah’s passion and trade she wants to share with the world is dance. From 6 – 18 years of age, she spent all of her time dancing.  Whether it would be rigorous training with the Abby Lee Dance Company, or in her garage “dancing as if no one was watching,” she just couldn’t keep her feet still. During this time, she and a specialty small group of dancers traveled the states to compete and take classes from world-renowned choreographers.  In the audition room of hundreds of people, she took the scholarship, and on the stage with her companions, they took the highest national recognition.  The team she grew up with trained hard, and it showed.  After high school, and able to choose her own path, she took a more humble approach to share her skill.  Her very first ballet teacher contacted her and asked her to dance with her and her brand new contemporary dance company.  Together, they launched Eevolve Productions, and danced all over Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, her hometown.  These were some of her favorite performances; she knew she was on the right path.  But eventually the wanderlust inside started scratching and she landed herself in Barcelona, Spain to work for a professional contemporary dance company.  She spent four months there working administration, taking class, and performing in hidden gems scattered throughout the city.   Now being back in California, she is soaking in her everyday adventures to take to the dance studio in hopes to continue performing and sharing with her community.

Alison Hardy

Budokon, Yoga

Alison is from North Lake Tahoe, born and raised. She spends her winters hiking local peaks with friends and enjoys activities like CrossFit, Yoga and anything else Lake Tahoe has to offer. Alison has been teaching yoga since November of 2015 when she was certified in Hatha/Restorative/Vinyasa yoga at Yoga Garden S.F. She has fallen in love with movement and breath work, sharing this knowledge with peers and watching as they learn to link the mind body connection, with that she found Budokon Yoga. A Martial Arts and Yoga sequence that focuses on transitional movements while breathing and living a personal story of power and grace, a story of balance between your inner Warrior and your inner Yogi. In March 2016, she traveled to Miami and spent 2 weeks learning movement arts from Kancho Cameron Shayne, originator of Budokon Yoga. She is now a 200HR certified Budokon Yoga Instructor and is ready to share this amazing new art with the community!

Renee Guay

Dance, Yoga, Aerial Fabric

Renee's passion for holistic health and well being began when she discovered yoga eight years ago and inspired her to become a Certified Yoga Instructor from Yandara Institute. Many opportunities, including a Level Two Reiki certification awakened her to seek a natural and well balanced lifestyle through meditation, flow arts, and other healing practices. By leading a life abundant in her own energetic potential, through mind, body and spirit, it is inevitable that she has the innate ability to inspire others to follow their own bliss.

She takes genuine humility in making a positive impact on those around her while influencing them to be the best versions of themselves. This is done enthusiastically by her deep passion as a performing artist here in the Tahoe region, having a profound connection to music and the community that inspires expressive movement through aerial silks, dance and acro yoga. Her "in the moment" personality brings joy to others through creative encouragement while continuously progressing in her own holistic practices.

Julia Brown
Aerial Fabric, Aerial Hoop, Dance

Julia danced in her mother's womb and has been dancing ever since. In middle and high school, she attended Vancouver School of Arts and Academics in Washington. Her training focused primarily on modern dance in addition to jazzlyrical and ballet. She was taught to see modern dance as an expression of rebellion from the oppressive norms of the world and to not focus on traditional technique, but to explore the freedom of movement. This unique environment inspired her to not take life too seriously, dance, laughplay and embrace the super weird! Working as a Massage Therapist for over 10 years continued her education of the mind, body connection. While also reinforcing the healing power of movement. Her love for the mountains and snowboarding brought her to Lake Tahoe in 2010. It was here she developed a deep appreciation for nature while falling in love with the majestic Sierra Nevada and the world around her. However, one thing was missing from her life, an artistic playground. Fortunately she discovered one Tahoe Flow Arts Studio in 2016. She now trains and performs Aerial SilksLyra, and Dance. Her dance background is the language she uses in her performance art to inspire others and embrace her true oneness with the universe. She believes movement is a meditation and the process of training and creating art is a therapy. Having the opportunity to share that with the world makes her feel whole.
